Mia Murray, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia is currently a junior at The Ohio State University pursuing a degree in Atmospheric Sciences with a minor in Leadership Studies. Mia proudly serves as the Vice President of The African American Voices Gospel Choir, Inc. and is an event Co-Chair as part of this year’s 41st African American Heritage Festival. Prior to her current position as a committee chair, she served on the 40th Gospel Fest subcommittee. As a Morrill Scholar, Mia exudes compassion and devotion towards others while also continuing to push for improved conditions and educational enrichment for minorities. She serves as a mentor for Buckeyes Inspire, the Boys & Girls Club of Columbus and volunteers with the Department of Social Change at Ohio State. Upon graduation, Mia plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences with a specialization in geographical research. In the future, she hopes to combine her passions of service and sustainability to make a positive impact in the STEM field and beyond.
