Purpose

2016-2017 marks 39 years for The Annual African American Heritage Festival! The festival is a standing part of the university and a traditional aspect that campus and community members anticipate each year.

This coming festival will center around the word "Madhumuni," which is the Swahili word for Purpose! The theme, Finding Power in our Purpose, will be incorporated throughout the week of the festival! The festival will feature talent and poetry showcases, intriguing cultural awareness programs and culminating event, Mahogany Moments! We invite all of The Ohio State University community and Columbus community members to join us for our annual celebration! Please continue to look back at our schedule page for future updates to events as near the event.

Join us for the 39th Annual African American Heritage Festival, March 24th-April 1st, 2017.

This nine-day festival is presented by the Student Life Multicultural Center and co-sponsored by Office of Student Life, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Student Activity Fee, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc., Black Student Association, and Coca-Cola, student organizations and hall councils at The Ohio State University.
