Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

African American Heritage Festival 2020

42nd Annual African American Heritage Festival

Transcend: Surpassing the Standards

We are the 42nd African American Heritage Festival Committee! In the last 41 years, the African American Heritage Festival has become a staple here at The Ohio State University and the larger Columbus community.

This coming festival will center around the word "Kupita," which is the Swahili word for Transcend! The theme “Surpassing the Standards” will be incorporated throughout the entire academic year as we gear up for the festival. The weeklong festival will feature talent and poetry showcases, intriguing cultural awareness programs, our annual Gospel Fest and the culminating Mahogany Moments dinner and dance!

We invite all of The Ohio State University community and Columbus community members to join us for our annual celebration! Please continue to look back at our schedule page for future updates to events.

Join us for the 42nd Annual African American Heritage Festival, February 21st - 29th, 2020.

This nine-day festival is presented by the Student Life Multicultural Center. For information regarding accessibility, to request an interpreter or other accommodations, contact JuQuay Collyear.
