Rejoicing

Rejoicing: Furaha

We are the 43rd African American Heritage Festival Committee! In the last 43 years, the African American Heritage Festival has become a staple here at The Ohio State University and the larger Columbus community.

This coming festival will center around the word "Furaha," which is the Swahili word for Rejoicing! The theme Rejoicing will be incorporated throughout the entire academic year as we gear up for the festival. The weeklong festival will feature talent and poetry showcases, intriguing cultural awareness programs, and our annual Gospel Fest! This year’s virtual Festival will certainly look different, yet still filled with passion, excitement, and Black culture.

We invite all of The Ohio State University community and Columbus community members to join us for our annual celebration! Please continue to look back at our schedule page for future updates to events.

Join us for the 43rd Annual African American Heritage Festival, February 26th, 2021 – March 6th, 2021.

This eight-day festival is presented by the Student Life Multicultural Center. For information regarding accessibility, to request an interpreter or other accommodations, contact JuQuay Collyear.
