PROGRESS: THE 46TH AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL

January 1, 2023

Progress: Mwendo

We are the 46th African American Heritage Festival Committee! Throughout the years, the African American Heritage Festival has become a staple here at The Ohio State University and larger Columbus community. The mission of the festival is to promote and provide a space for community, visibility, creativity, and education at The Ohio State University and in the greater Columbus Community. We also aim to commemorate and build upon the legacy of the African and African American experience.

This coming festival will center around the word "Mwendo", which is the Swahili word for Progress! The theme Progress will be incorporated throughout the entire academic year as we gear up for the festival. The weeklong festival will feature talent and poetry showcases, intriguing cultural awareness programs, and our annual Gospel Fest!

We invite all of The Ohio State University community and Columbus community members to join us for our annual celebration! Please continue to look back at our schedule page for future updates to events.

Join us for the 46th Annual African American Heritage Festival, April 2024.

This week-long festival is presented by the Student Life Center for Belonging and Social Change. For information regarding accessibility, to request an interpreter or other accommodations, please contact the center.
