Music Thornton

Music Thornton is a second-year Civil Engineering major with a double minor in American Sign Language and City & Regional Planning. She is from Columbus, Ohio near Clintonville. She serves as a co-chair of the Special Initiatives & Outreach Committee. She is very active on campus as her other involvements include the Morrill Scholars Program where she is an Excellence Scholar, College of Engineering Ambassadors, The Black Queer Coalition where she serves as President, The National Society of Black Engineers where she serves on the Conference Planning Committee, Buckeye Leadership Fellows 2026 Cohort, Social Change Ambassador through the Center for Belonging and Social Change, The newly created Scarlet Force dance team, and a Peer Academic Leader in the Living-Learning Community for Engineers, Architects & Planners. Through her multiple involvements, she strives to cultivate a sense of community and support in the various spaces she's in, especially for minority students. She's proud to be a part of a committee dedicated to bringing this feeling of community along with the celebration of Black excellence to the students on campus through the events of the African American Heritage Fest.
