Music Thornton

Hi! My name is Music Thornton, I am a third-year Civil Engineering major with a double minor in American Sign Language and City & Regional Planning from Columbus, Ohio. I currently serve as one of three co-overalls on the 47th African-American Heritage Festival. On campus, a few of the organizations I am involved in are the Morrill Scholars Program as a scholarship recipient and MSP mentor, the OSU chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) as the Community Service Chair, Lambda Psi Minority Engineering Honorary, the 2026 cohort of Buckeye Leadership Fellows, the Living Learning Community for Architects Engineers and Planners as a Peer Academic Leader and Mentor, College of Engineering Ambassador and Ujima Student Programming Ambassador for the Center for Belonging and Social Change. Through my diverse experiences, I am committed to fostering a sense of community and support, particularly for minority students, in every space I occupy. I am proud to serve on a committee dedicated to creating this sense of belonging and celebrating Black excellence on campus through the events of the African American Heritage Fest.
